A Tribute to My Mentor, Gilles Quenette
Gilles Quenette was a special person who came into my life when I needed guidance the most. At one of my lowest points, while working in the field, I felt an unshakable urge to go to a cenacle. I didn’t even know what a cenacle was at the time, but my younger brother had told me about Gilles—how he had been diagnosed with cancer and how God was showing him how to live with faith and purpose. At that moment, I knew I had to meet him.
When I arrived at the cenacle and met Gilles, everything changed. My faith deepened, and I grew closer to God. The transformation started from within, and soon, it reflected on the outside as well. My perspective on life shifted, and I learned to trust in God's plan more than ever before.
At one point, Gilles gave me a business card holder with the words "He Will Guide You" from Proverbs 3:5-6. At the time, I didn’t even have a job with a title, but God had already placed in Gilles’ heart the knowledge that I would one day carry business cards. That small gift became a powerful reminder of faith and divine guidance.
Gilles taught me to let God take the driver's seat in my life. God's path isn’t always easy, and we may not always understand the direction He chooses for us. But He wants us to spread our wings, to trust Him, and to make the difficult choices—the right choices. Following God’s path requires courage, but the rewards are beyond measure.
To Gilles’ family, I want to express my deepest gratitude. Thank you for sharing him with us. Through Gilles, God touched so many lives, including mine.
God bless you, Gilles. We will meet again one day.
